In her capacity of member of the European parliament. Ernst was a strong advocate of eco-labeling and she took an active interest in third world and human rights issues. After her European mandate. she headed the European bureau of a large human rights NGO and in November '99. she was elected federal secretary of the Francophone greens "Ecolo". |
